Our philosophy
Indians say that “we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.” So let’s do something to return to our children the planet in a better condition.
We believe that the toys and games we propose, through your choice as parents – grandparents - friends buying these toys, is a good way to create a different culture of consumption, more human and durable. These choices will, in a gentle way, with love, teach our children to become environmentally responsible adults, creative and innovative.
We think that providing our children the joy of playing with toys and games which have been produced with respect to human beings and their environment is a small step but a good and a right one. Not only their childhood will be happier but they will also grow up learning about caring and taking care of the only planet we all know.
Our ethics
We want to participate in creating a better future for our children and “giving back”, if not a healthier, then at least the same planet which we knew when we were children. Touffie is our contribution to that aim. Therefore, we engage ourselves in searching for, finding and providing toys and games which are educational and ethical in the best interest of the children and the planet.
- We propose toys and games of high quality, produced with respect to the environment, the nature and Human Rights;
- We work in a fair way by respecting the aspirations of all involved: producers, providers, our partners and our clients;
- We contribute to the protection of the environment by giving priority to toys and games produced closely to us, in Europe; and in this way, are participating at the reduction of CO2 related to the transport;
- We respect our clients by providing as much information as possible regarding our providers and the products we are selling, so to help them make the right choices;
- We continuously work on decreasing our climate foot-print by applying company internal environment policies. We are certainly not perfect, yet :-), but we are working on it!
Our environmental policy
Our concerns about impacts on our planet, such as global climate change, mean that ensuring the efficient use of energy and resources is of the outmost importance. We are working on reducing the environmental impact by being focused on how and where the toys are being produced and making sure that they are not excessively packaged.
Transport
We aim at being environmental friendly and we are primarily purchasing toys manufactured in Europe, thus contributing to reducing the distance travelled and keeping carbon emissions to a minimum.
Packaging
All packaging that come in to us is either recycled or reused. When packing orders we use recycled packaging materials, whenever possible so to contribute towards a minimized environmental impact. If we were to be asked, our voice would be “NO to plastic bags!”
Office
Touffie is currently being run from our home and is following a “green office” policy: i.e. low-energy bulbs, a largely paperless internal administration, efficient use of e-mails and internet. Visit cards and leaflets are printed on recycled paper. Bike is our favorite means of transport but we have not yet found one that could transport the toys from and to the post-office…
